The forthcoming Realsoft 3D V6 will support both 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems. In addition to the practically unlimited memory space, the 64 bit release will also deliver increased performance.

A 64 bit version of Realsoft 3D is currently under beta testing. Based on tests run during the testing program, the 64-bit release appears to perform approximately 30% faster. The performance gain depends on the project in question. Some very complex scenes consisting of lots of SDS and NURBS objects render nearly 50% faster. The most modest speed advantage we have seen so far is approximately 10%.

The ufo benchmark project ( http://www.realsoft.com/updates/benchmark ) renders approximately 30% faster. The 32 bit version rendered the ufo project in 336 seconds, whereas the 64 bit release renders it in 232 seconds.

Tests were run on a Fedora Core 3 / Athlon system.
